Martin Edic: Web Sites Portfolio

Posted by martin on March 5th, 2008

[please note, this info has been updated but the Wordpress template I'm using doesn't reflect this in its dating schema]

Over the past ten years I have been involved in the development of dozens of web sites for businesses, not-for- profit organizations and for my own media/domain management company, Supernatural Agency, Inc. I also have a couple of blogs I author based on my own personal interests.

My role in the site development process includes defining goals, developing site architecture, working with the site’s visual designer to ensure usability and brand integrity, writing/content development, search engine optimization (SEO) and project management. I typically am very closely involved with planning to drive targeted traffic to the site via search marketing, PR and traditional marketing tactics.

This a sampling of sites I’ve worked on. I don’t list sites that have significantly changed since I was involved in their development, nor do I list sites where I can’t clearly define what my contribution was.

  • In progress: WaterfrontRochester.com, a comprehensive guide to the waterfront neighborhoods of Rochester, NY. Created to generate highly qualified leads for real estate sales.
  • Recently completed (August 2009):  RochestersEastEnd.com for the East End Business Association, a group of over 100 businesses. Built on a hosted Wiki platform called Wetpaint, the site features over 100 pages devoted to this thriving entertainment and business area. All content written and compiled by me.
  • My business blog, WhatTheyreSaying.com.
  • Techrigy, Inc. This site was redeveloped based on my architecture and copy in the Fall of 2008. The redesigned site was optimized for search and traffic has tripled over the previous site. Techrigy was acquired by Alterian in May 2009.
  • Techrigy Blog. Techrigy is a social media company. As such its blog had to be thought leader in this emerging field. With over 100 posts and thousands of page views monthly, the blog has been a critical aspect of Techrigy’s marketing strategy.
  • Boylan Brown.com. This site was developed by Powertango Media, a site development firm I founded in 2000 and later sold. It is for a mid-sized tech-savvy law firm in Rochester, NY.
  • RochesterDowntown.com. Another Powertango site, this site was developed for Rochester Downtown Development Corp (RDDC) as a central resource for everything in Rochester’s center city. It is a comprehensive and up-to-date database of commercial and residential real estate, retail, entertainment and recreation and virtually every aspect of the downtown area. The client was provided with a content management system to keep the data fresh and to add photos to the site (there are thousands), creating a real world resource for the community. Winner of the RBJ Best of the Web Award twice.
  • DigitalRochester.com. DR is a technology networking group I co-founded in 2001. It has grown to thousands of members and holds dozens of events annually including mixers, lectures and presentations, a venture forum for new companies and much more. While I am a supporter, I am no longer a board member.
  • SupernaturalAgency Blog. Blogging and other social networking sites are the wave of the user-generated future on the web (did I get enough buzzwords in there?). This blog, for our domain management company, explores the current state of the art in Internet Marketing. I write it.
  • SalesIntelligentsia.com. SI is a new blog recently started as part of the Supernatural Agency media network. It focuses on enterprise sales issues.
  • KitchenDesignInsights.com KDI is another Supernatural site in our design domain portfolio. Under development (we develop live so it is out there building traffic) it will be the most comprehensive resource on the web for anyone planning a new kitchen. Based on a best-selling book on the subject, Kitchens That Work (Taunton Press) that my brother Richard and I co-authored.
  • PeterParts.com. This is an search engine optimization (SEO) and search engine marketing (SEM) project done for an electronic parts sourcing company. We worked closely with their internal web developer to improve search engine organic ranking for their thousands of parts-related keywords and are currently setting up a major pay-per-click campaign based on those same keywords.
  • CleanTechNY.com This site is an aggregator site for news on NY’s Clean Technology businesses. It is a part of our media network.

I have, over the years, worked on sites for BlueTie (software company), Odyssey Software, HouseDigital, Xerox, Exxon Mobil and more. Most of these sites have changed considerably since I worked them so I am not linking to what is now other people’s work.
